What the electricity statistics show

Power Window is not trying to prove that one season is always cheap. The point is to show patterns: how hourly price shape changes and how generation is distributed across technologies over longer periods.

Summer and winter do not have the same shape

In summer, solar production can make some midday hours competitive. In winter, demand and lower solar output change the curve. That is why hourly averages matter more than a single daily average.

Renewable does not mean zero price

Even with strong solar and wind output, hourly prices also depend on demand, marginal technologies, hydro, interconnections, and system adjustments. Renewable share is a signal, not the whole explanation.

Why this matters for flexible users

If a household can shift some consumption, seasonal statistics help reveal when opportunities tend to appear. The planner then uses the specific day to decide the actual hour for a charge or appliance.
